KUNSTENNIEMI
We´ve been working at Kunstenniemi all day short. These pictures are taken in the morning when we arrived, exited and a little nervous about the camp.
The day has been good so far, you run into obstacles all the time, but we´ve gotten over them all so far.

LATE NIGHT SESSION
Here we are in Björns crib. He has leopanrd handcuffs, hello kitty pens, and stuffed animals. We feel really safe and comfortable.
He has locked the doors. If you don´t see us tomorrow, please help us and hopefully our absence will be understood.
Ps we cannot even participate on the extra workshop, probably.
Goodnight.
No sorry.
Just kidding. Björn is adorable dancing around with his Hello-Kitty towel.
We are discussing problems, underlying problems, underlying problems of underlying problems.. etc.
This day has been good so far. A lot of information to take in, and a lot to learn before we can get really creative. The task was basically, as we understood it, to market the product online. But to market something online you have to understand the world of internet.
That´s the bottom of the cake.
To be continued...
With love: Emma, Sara, Kévin, Razowan and Hello K..Björn

PROBLEM: IT´S
NOT TRENDY
TOOL: DESIGN SCENARIOS
Underline problem: It does not show your
identity
Story: SHAWN TAKES THE BUS TO WORK
Shawn wakes
up at 7. He eats breakfast with his family of two children and his wife
Camilla. Shawn puts on his suit of 700 euros and brush his teeth. He grabs his
smartphone and he opens the Turku bus-ap. The app knows his location, he clicks
a button that says “I want to go to work now”, and the GPS shows him the
nearest bus and when it will arrive at the closest station from where he is.
The phone rings when he has to leave the house (notification). He leaves the house.
He is
walking to the bus, this morning he takes a longer route to collect steps
(which will give him points), to get his daily morning exercise.
He arrives
at the solar cell powered bus stop, where he loads his phone. The app
recognizes that he has arrived at the bus stop. He reads the news etc. from a
screen situated on the bus stop. Which also shows eventual delays. He grabs a
nutrition drink from the machine on the stop.
The bus
arrives. The app recognizes he´s entering the bus, via NFC. There is a screen
in a bus that shows available seats (recognized by touch). He sits down. The seat is comfortable and the
app sends a message to the office that Shawn is on his way. He charges his
phone, there is an I-pad (in the back of the seat in front) with WIFI and he
can listen to music with his own headphones. He throws his trash thanks to all
the nice signs situated in the bus.
He arrives
outside the office, at estimated time. The app recognizes he arrived. It thanks
him and shows him the points he collected. The points can be used to get cheaper
trips, drinks. Gaming (lottery( etc. (anything collected to the trip) in the
future, whenever he wants. That Shawn takes the bus benefits the company
because: they know when Shawn is arriving, the company gets more marketing on
the I-pad in the bus because many of their employers use it (there is an
internal competition between the companies).

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, STOCKHOLM
To compare the public transportation of Turku with a more developed system I looked into the situation in Stockholm.
The differences are many, but not huge - if you now what I mean. I feel like there is a lot to learn from the system in Stockholm and just by making small changes you can make the public transportation more appealing and better.
Public transportation, Stockholm
- easy to load buscards (goes for all public transportation), you can load them in a "pressbyrå"(near every bigger station),supermarkets, or on a machine(picture below)
-every busstop has light (no need to be afraid of dark)
- on both metro and bus stations there is a digital screen where you can see when the next ~4 buses/metros are arriving and where they are going, and on every bus/metro there is a digital screen + voice to know what the next stop will be
- the busses are longer (more people fit in)
- you open the doors in the bus yourself, no need to be angry at the driver (picture below) also no need to be afraid that the door closes
- many maps of where/how buses/metro/train are driving
- food/drink machines on the stops
... To be continued...

No public transportation in the heart of the city, Which makes it possible to fit more stores etc and have perfect bicykleroads, still keeping the public transportation close. /Em |
